Emergency Lighting

JB-EYE can supply and fit a multi range of emergency lighting to supply essential illumination in the event of an emergency. Emergency lighting and direction signs can mean your only chance of finding an escape route in a crisis.

A detailed test schedule and test reports are listed in BS5266. Test records and logbooks are available from JB-EYE Fire & Security. For maintained luminaries we recommend that those lamps be routinely replaced after 5000 hours running, or according to the manufacturer's guidelines.

These tests are normally achieved by failing the electrical mains supplies local to the normal lighting to where the emergency lights serve. This test should be by operation of a special test switch installed for this purpose.

Schedule of Maintenance Tests

BS5266 Recommends the following regular Maintenance Tests.

DAILY: Check indicator light and that all maintained luminaries are operating.

MONTHLY: Operational test for short periods (approximately 25% of the rated duration).

BI-ANNUAL: Test for at least one hour for 3 hour rated systems.

YEARLY: Test for full duration

SUBSEQUENTLY: For self contained systems test yearly for the full duration.

During each test, the lights should be checked for correct operation. After testing, the supply should be restored and then checked to ensure the system is charging correctly.
